Snowman Factory with Deflecto Stackable Caddy Organizer

December Greetings Friends!  As I write this blog, I am looking around at my stacks and piles of Christmas decorations as I finish up some projects and look forward to decorating the house.  Deflecto has come up with a Stackable Caddy storage system that is a favorite of everyone!  The caddys are made to Stack'N Go with a Caddy Wheel Base.  You can pile on as many as you desire for convenient storage.

I decided to dedicate one of my caddy's to a festive storage for the snowman ornaments I make for the holidays.  I put the foam balls, paints, paintbrushes and accessories in the storage bins for convenience when I work on this project.

Read on, and I will tell you about how I decorated the caddy!

You will need:

Deflecto:  Stackable Caddy Organizer #29003CR
Paints:  Metallic Gold Acrylics    (Designer note:  Spray paint works great too)
Sponge:  I used a sea sponge
Paintbrushes
Vinyl with adhesive:  Metallic Gold and Clear Glitter
Die-cut machine
Water Bucket
Paper Plates
Paper Towels
Scissors
Paper Trimmer

Instructions:

1.  Remove all of the clear bins from the caddy.

2.  Pour out some paint on a paper plate.  Wet the sponge and squeeze out all of the moisture.  Use a pouncing motion to apply paint to the sponge and repeat that motion as you apply the paint to the caddy.  After applying a coat of paint to the caddy, apply a second coat where needed.  **  If you want a quicker way to do this......a metallic spray paint made for plastic will work great!
3.  The caddy should look about like this when you are finished painting.
4.  Stars:  Cut 1", 3/4" and 1/2" stars from the vinyl using the die-cut machine.  Start with about 20 of each size.  Peel off the release paper of one star and adhere to one bin.  Repeat; randomly placing the stars until you are happy with the way the bins look.

5.  Cut 6 vinyl  rectangles at 2" x 2-1/2" using the paper trimmer.  Round off the corners with the scissors.  Remove the release paper from one rectangle, position and adhere to one of the indention's on the top of a bin.  Smooth out all of the air bubbles.  If you get a stubborn air bubble; use a pin to release any trapped air.  Smooth.  Repeat and finish the other indentations.  Below is a photo of how they should look when you are finished.
Below are a couple more photos of how my caddy looks now.  I love it and I am looking forward to finishing my snowman ornaments.  I will be adding some hangers and embellishments to make them look cozy and ready for the tree.

Thank you for stopping by the blog today.  I hope you got some inspiration here today and have a wonderful Christmas season!

Cheers!

Wet Erase Notepad for your Sweetheart

Each deflecto clear acrylic craft frame is a blank canvas! They are extremely versatile to be decorated and embellished and used  as decor and/or signage for special events.

With Valentine's Day around the corner; I made this one into a wet erase sign that can be used over and over with whatever you would like to write on it!

Materials:

Deflecto:  4" x 6" craft frame; flexible sign dangler; banner hanger; wet erase marker
jewelry findings:  round rhinestone frame with jump ring; 1/4" silver jump ring
trim:  faux rhinestone trim with self adhesive back
paper punch:  1" round
dimensional medium: (Mod Podge Dimensional Magic)
cardstock:  pink, black, vintage white with black writing
adhesives
paper trimmer
scissors
ink to chalk the paper edges

Instructions:

1.  The frame will lay flat with the "bottom" as the top and the "top" as the bottom.  Cut the paper and adhere the layers as shown.  All of the paper will be on the inside of the frame, between the front and back panels.

2.  Remove the release paper from the banner hanger and attach to the top.

3.  Apply one drop of the dimensional medium to the inside of the jeweled frame.  Press the paper circle into the frame and hold down until it is flat.  Let dry in place.  Apply more dimensional medium to the inner circle and allow to dry flat.

4.  Attach the jeweled frame charm to the large jump ring and then attach the jump ring to the banner hanger as shown.

5.  Marker:  Bend the sign dangler around the marker.  Remove the pen and make sure the ends will fit between the panels of the frame.  Remove the release paper from the dangler ends and adhere to the inside panels of the frame. Embellish:  Cut a single strand of faux rhinestone trim and adhere it around the sign dangler as shown.  Re-insert the marker into the pen holder that you just made.

6.  Write on the outside of the frame with the wet erase marker.  The writing can be removed with a baby wipe or with a wet paper towel.

7.  Since Valentine's Day is just around the corner; I wanted this one to be fitting with the holiday.  Use your imagination and embellish the frame any way you like to fit with your decor at home or office.  Enjoy!

I hope you got some inspiration here today.

Flexible Pouch Garland with a Mad Hatter's Tea Party Theme

Hi everyone!  Down the rabbit hole we went for Mad Hatter's Tea Party Bridal Shower!  Above the doors that led out to the party hung a fun themed garland using deflecto's flexible pouches.  After the shower; the garland can be taken apart to make a keepsake album for the bride to be!

Papers were cut to fit inside the pouches.  I layered cut-out embellishments with photographs like for a scrapbook page and inserted it in the pouch.  I die cut scalloped circles of different sizes and cut each circle in two.  Scalloped decoration:  Adhere the paper layers together and then adhere to the top of the pouch.
The gold glitter letters are self adhesive and I adhered them to the outside of the pouch after inserting the layered papers inside the pouch.

deflecto products you will need:

Pear Clip - 20012CR
Flexible Pouch - 3" x 5" #20019CR; 5" x 7" #20020CR
Sign and Banner Hangers - #2000CR

Pear Clip

Attach the Sign and Banner Hangers to the backs of the pouches.  Thread ribbon or jute string through the loops to hang the banner.

Hope you got some inspiration here today.  We hung this banner over the door at the bridal shower and it led out into the yard which we had decorated for the theme.  A great time was had by all!  Here is another glimpse at the decorations outside the door!

Thanks for coming down the rabbit hole with us for a glimpse into the bridal shower.  Hope you got some inspiration here today.  The wedding is coming soon and it is all DIY as well!  We are using a lot of deflecto products for wedding signage and more.

Candy Bins for a Wedding Celebration!

What is a wedding without sweets, right?  I have a great idea for using a deflecto craft storage bin to serve up treats for the wedding guests.

The "star" of this project will be the 5 bin unit by Deflecto. I used 3" black collegiate letters.  They have an adhesive on the back side that is meant to be temporary; as the real adhesive is heat activated.  In this case; I removed the release paper from each letter and applied one to each bin to spell "CANDY".  You should be able to remove them after the wedding and use the bins for craft storage.

You will need:

Deflecto:  Craft Tilt Bin by ; a 5 bin unit
Joy:  3" black embroidered letters to spell CANDY
Black spray paint for use on acrylic plastic (or color of your choice)
Trim:  single strand faux rhinestone self-adhesive
Scissors
painters tape
clear packing tape or newspaper

Instructions:
  • Remove the bins from the unit.  Line them up on a flat surface.  Remove the release paper from one letter, center and apply to the bin.  Leave it loose until all of the letters are lined up evenly.  Repeat for each letter.

Close-up View below

  • Tape off all areas you do not want to apply paint to.  You may choose to leave the bin unit white.  That is perfectly OK!
  • Cover up any small holes with painters tape on the inside edges of the unit.
  • I applied clear packing tape across the front to protect the inside of the unit.  Then, applied painters tape around the front edges.
  • In a well ventilated area; follow the manufacturer's instructions and paint the entire unit with the exception of the inside.  Allow to dry thoroughly.  Remove the tape.  Reinsert the bins.

  • Each bin will have a slot and paper to identify what is inside.  Embellish the edges with the faux rhinestone trim.
If you would like to know how I made the mini faux cakes on top of the candy bin; check out the blog post link here:  http://marilyngossettdesigns.blogspot.com/2016/04/mini-wedding-dessert-with-smoothfoam.html

Thank you for checking out the blog today.  Hope you got some inspiration for your next celebration.  I am going to do "BABY" with a four bin unit next!
